A delegation of Azerbaijan is visiting the capital of the US State of Texas, Austin. The delegation includes Vice-President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Khalik Mammadov, head of the Azerbaijan-US interparliamentary working group, MP, Samad Seyidov, member of the Azerbaijan-US working group for interparliamentary ties, MP Asim Mollazade, MPs Sevinj Fataliyeva and Sahiba Gafarova.
The delegation met with the administration of the State of Texas, visited the House of Representatives and Senate which passed resolutions HR 707 and SR 374 dealing with
The House resolution HR 707 mentions the delegation from the Republic of Azerbaijan - the country, which is a "valued partner in international commerce." The document says, "One of the world's oldest oil producers, Azerbaijan maintains strong ties to the Lone Star State through the energy industry; the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic has operations in Houston, and the many Texas-based companies operating in Azerbaijan include such major corporations as Exxon Mobil Corporation, Halliburton Company, and KBR"
In 2012, nearly a quarter of all U.S. exports to Azerbaijan came from Texas, including more than $120 million in machinery, chemicals, fabricated metal products, and electronics; in turn, Azerbaijani exports to Texas, mostly mineral fuels and oils, exceeded $36 million. According to the document, The State of Texas and the Republic of Azerbaijan have long enjoyed a dynamic and mutually beneficial economic relationship.
In a meeting with the Azerbaijani delegation, author of the resolution HR 707, Republican congressman Jim Pitts expressed hope for father development of economic relationship.
