President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva inaugurate some objects at Shahdag winter and summer tourism complex - UPDATE- PHOTOS

Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev and first lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended Thursday the opening of Gaya hotel, which is part of Shahdag winter and summer tourism complex.

President Ilham Aliyev and first lady Mehriban Aliyeva were told that the three-storey hotel had 26 rooms, a restaurant, a fitness center as well as a car parking. Favorable conditions created in the hotel increase the importance of Shahdag winter and summer tourism complex.

The President and first lady were told that as part of next stages of the project new ropeways, various clubs, small hotels, boarding houses, Shahdag Youth Center, a golf ground, as well as a horse farm will be built in the area.

The Head of State was told that construction work on the first stage of Shahdag winter and summer tourism complex would be financed by the government. The construction work will be supervised by the complex`s management which is subordinate to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Private sector will participate in next stages of construction of the complex as well.

President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva Then inspected construction progress at Shahdag Resort SPA hotel.

They were told that all conditions will be created here for tourists. The hotel will have 173 rooms, eight restaurants and three meeting halls. Seventy percent of construction of the hotel has been completed.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of carrying out the construction work in compliance with modern standards.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva yesterday attended the opening of Zirva hotel, which is part of Shahdag winter and summer tourism complex.

Culture and tourism minister Abulfas Garayev told the Head of State preparations for the construction of the complex had commenced in 2006. The bidding conducted at the time was won by the world`s leading companies. In September 2009, the foundation of the complex was laid with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev.

The area under construction is environmentally friendly and rich in flora and fauna. The facility is located at an altitude of 1,300-2,300 meters above sea level. The bigger part of the complex is situated on a mountain plateau at an altitude of 1,440-1,640 meters above sea level. The complex covers an area of 2,058 hectares. The Shahdag winter and summer tourist complex, one of the most advanced projects not only in Azerbaijan but also in the world, will operate all the year round.

This project will create opportunities for the development of skiing and other winter sports in the country. Tourists will be able to fully relax here during the summer season as well.

The Shahdag winter and summer tourist complex is Azerbaijan`s first ski resort. The construction will be carried out in several stages. In February 2011, President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of cable way No. 2 and an Alpine skiing slope. At the end of last year, the head of state, who has been keeping the project in the spotlight, examined the progress of work.

To extend the ski season, an “artificial snow” system will be set up in the complex. To this end, snow generators have been installed on all slopes. German equipment will be used to consolidate the snowpack and bring the ski-run to the required level. There will be nine cable ways at the first stage.

The two-storey Zirva hotel has a total of 40 suits.

The President and his spouse viewed the suits, and visited the elevator base, a conference hall and a sports store.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today attended the opening of the Gusar-Laza highway.

The Head of State cut a ribbon symbolizing the opening of the road. Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov informed the President about the technical indicators of the highway.

The Head of State also viewed photo stands reflecting the technical indicators of the road.

The construction of the highway started in 2007. The two-lane road is 39 km in length, 8 meters in width.

The 318 meter-long 8 bridges were constructed over the highway.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today inaugurated the Gusar-1 hydroelectric power station as part of his visit to the country`s Gusar district.

President of Azerenerji JSC Etibar Pirverdiyev informed the Head of State about the hydroelectric power station.

President Ilham Aliyev launched the facility. The President laid foundation stone for the hydroelectric power station in August, 2010.

The hydro electric power station has 3 hydro turbines, a hydro generator and a 10 KW- substation.

The facility will produce 5 million kWh of electricity per year. The hydro electric power station was built by Azenco Company.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today visited the country`s Gusar district.

The Head of State attended the opening of the Urva-1 hydroelectric power station. President Ilham Aliyev launched the facility.

Then, the Azerbaijani leader inaugurated the Gusar-Anigh-Laza highway. Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov informed the President about technical indicators of the highway. The Head of State cut a ribbon symbolizing the opening of the facility.

Accompanied by his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva, President Ilham Aliyev opened Zirva and Gaya hotels here. The President and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva viewed the hotels.

During the trip, the Head of State and Mehriban Aliyeva participated in the opening of the first stage of the Shahdag Winter and Summer Tourism Complex.
