Developing Azerbaijani-Russian relations praised

22 November 2012 [14:07] - TODAY.AZ
Leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and member of the State Duma Gennady Zyuganov has expressed satisfaction with the development of Azerbaijani-Russian relations.

"I am pleased that relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are strengthening," he told media in Baku today. "Our party has always stood for friendship and the brotherhood of people."

He was taking part in the seventh General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties, which opens in Baku.

"Military operations are being held in the south," he said. "We are on the border with this area. While ensuring security and sustainable development, we protect our countries, people and borders from the great upsets that are already happening. We must continue this course and remember that one must have a population of 300 million people to compete in this world. One can ensure the safety, the markets, interests and scientific and technological progress only with a union of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan."

The Russian politician said that the General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian political parties is being held in Baku amid a new wave of a global crisis which involves almost 200 countries.

"The topic is very important," he said. "This is peace, security and reconciliation amid the situation in the Middle East, North Africa and Afghanistan today. I think that a very serious conversation on how to get out of this complicated crisis will be held in Baku. I would like to recall that there were 12 severe crises for 150 years of capitalism. Two of them resulted in the two world wars in the last century."

He said that Azerbaijan is lovely hardworking Republic. Everybody there knows what is peace and what is war.

"I have familiarised myself with Baku with pleasure," he said. "I have dreamed of visiting Baku for a long time. This is a wonderful city, interesting and hard-working people. I hope that the guests' visit from Asian countries to Baku will contribute to solving the problems with peace and prosperity."
