Malaysia-Azerbaijan ties mulled

The parliamentary delegation of Azerbaijan led by speaker Ogtay Asadov visited Malaysia from November 6 to 8. The delegation was comprised of chairman of the human rights committee Rabiyyat Aslanova, MPs Bakhtiyar Aliyev, Chingiz Asadullayev, Mirkazim Kazimov, head of the Milli Majlis administration Safa Mirzayev and other officials.

The delegation was invited by speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Haji Mulia. Ogtay Asadov met with Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Hajji Mulia, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of parliamentary affairs Dato Sri Mohammed Nazi bin Abdul Aziz, President of the Senate Tan Sri Abu Zahar bin Ujang.

The meeting also attended by members of the Malaysia-Azerbaijan inteparliamentary friendship group, head of the parliamentary administration, chief and employees of the Malaysian Foreign Ministry`s department for Western Asia discussed development of interparliamentary relations between the two countries, experience exchange, organization of reciprocal visits and other issues.

Ogtay Asadov met Wednesday with Prime Minister Dato Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, former Prime Minister, head of the Perdana Leadership Foundation and one of the country`s influential political leaders Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad. Discussions were mostly concerned with friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Malaysia and political, economic, trade, humanitarian cooperation.

Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Malaysia Tahir Karimov and embassy employees accompanied the parliamentary delegation during the visit. The delegation`s visit was covered by Malaysia`s Bernama news agency, Utusan Melayu, Malaysiazoom and other news portals.
