The ceasefire regime was violated 1,178 times within 10 months of 2012, head of the Defense Ministry press service, Colonel Eldar Sabiroglu said at a press conference in Tartar region today.
He said that both sides suffered losses and the Azerbaijani army lost 12 people within 10 months. However, according to the information confirmed by Armenians, they lost 32 people. The ceasefire was violated mostly in the direction of Fuzuli, Tartar and Agdam regions.
"The most strained situation in the contact line was observed in June," he said. "Around 19 monitoring were conducted on the contact line in September. They passed without incidents. Once monitoring stops, the Armenians violate the ceasefire regime. We are soldiers, and our main duty is to liberate the occupied territories, even if by means of war. The second war will lead to a large fire in the region and complete with the victory of Azerbaijani soldiers."
He said that within 10 months all Azerbaijani military units conducted large-scale exercises under the leadership of Defence Minister Safar Abiyev. The army has proved itself quite well during the exercises.
"Sometimes we hear that Armenians conduct exercises on our occupied territories once or twice a week," he said. "However, this is not a simple task to prepare and conduct the exercises. It requires extensive training and great funds. Armenians call appearing two or three tanks and one artillery gun as the exercises. This is nonsense. It will not affect Azerbaijan."
He said that the Azerbaijani army has the most advanced weapons in the contact line.
"Our main goal is to prevent the aggression of the Armenian armed forces. I think that soon we will witness the liberation of our lands," Sabiroglu added.
He added that Azerbaijan has recently done a lot to form the army.
"We have purchased the most modern weapons," he said. "We can strike the enemy at any distance by using these weapons. Second, the morale of the personnel is at a high level."
He said that repair work was conducted in 45 military camps.
