Azerbaijani-Ukrainian bilateral relations appraised

11 October 2012 [08:47] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani and Ukrainian Foreign Ministers Elmar Mammadyarov and Konstantin Grishchenko discussed prospects for bilateral and multilateral cooperation in Kiev, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan said.

The meeting of the ministers was held in the framework of the celebration of the 15th anniversary of GUAM. The foreign ministers of the two countries also discussed the program of the meeting of GUAM Foreign Ministers, which will be held in the framework of celebrations in Kiev.

GUAM was established by the post-Soviet countries in 1997 during the EU presidential summit in Strasbourg. In 1999, Uzbekistan joined the organisation, and left four years later. A decision was made to rename GUAM as an international organisation 'Organisation for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM', at the organisation's first summit in Kiev in 2006.
