Head of the Azerbaijani President`s Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev has responded to a question of AzerTAc concerning the Elshad Abdullayev case.
- Dear Mr. Mehdiyev, discussions - in the press and electronic information resources - over a video featuring former ABU rector Elshad Abdullayev and MP Gular Ahmadova has been high on the agenda for the last few days. Your name was also mentioned in the talk between Elshad Abdullayev and Gular Ahmadova? What can you say related to this?
- State officials have many times resolutely expressed their opinion on this issue. I can only add that the attempt to insistently mention my name during the talk in the video is a serious provocation deliberately planned by somebody. Their goal is to spoil the image of government representatives by such dirty acts. I have to note that such attempts have repeatedly been made during the years of independence, but they have never been realized because they were groundless, and such provocateurs have never reached their goals. This case will give no results either.
I can confidently say that representatives of the Presidential Administration have nothing to do with such dirty acts, and will never have.
Elshad Abdullayev`s failure to become a member of parliament and the closure – in accordance with the law – of the International University that he was rector of once again prove my words.
As regards to fraudsters who are trying to do something, Elshad Abdullayev and the like who provoke an uproar, it is their own problem. Such fraudsters have always existed, and they exist today. The most convincing way for them is certainly misusing the names of officials. Sooner or later such people have been unmasked and faced the law. No concessions will further be made for these people irrespective of who they are.
