`Role of Heydar Aliyev Foundation head Mehriban Aliyeva in expanding UNESCO- Azerbaijan relations praised`

First secretary of Azerbaijan`s National Commission on UNESCO Gunay Efendiyeva participated in Director-General`s Consultation with Member States and National Commissions for UNESCO of the Europe and North America Region.

Preparation of the Medium-Term Strategy for 2014-2021 and the Program and Budget for 2014-2017 were in the focus of discussions.

On cooperation between UNESCO and Azerbaijan over the past 20 years, Gunay Efendiyeva told of future projects and events.

She stressed great merits of head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva in widening relations with this organization. She stressed significance of the projects being implemented by the Foundation in Azerbaijan and abroad.

Efendiyeva said as a result of Armenian military aggression, samples of cultural heritage of Azerbaijan were destroyed, adding UNESCO should stir up efforts to solve this problem.
