Azerbaijani President visits the north-western region - UPDATE - PHOTOS

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today inspected construction of Tufan Summer and Winter Alpine Skiing Complex in Gabala.

The facility is located four kilometers from Gabala. The President was told that the complex would have 10 ski slopes with the total length of 18,000 meters.

The facility will serve up to 3,000 people a day. The Head of State was also informed of Aquapark leisure and entertainment center which will be built in Gabala.

President Ilham Aliyev was told that the complex would have the retractable roof. It will feature different water attractions.

The Head of State then viewed a model of Golf Resort sport and leisure center to be built in the region.

President Ilham Aliyev was informed that Golf Academy and Club would also be created in Gabala.

The President stressed the necessity of carrying out the construction work in line with highest standards.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has inspected development of construction work at a skeet shooting and target archery complex in Gabala.

The President was informed that the complex will feature a large number of facilities, including a weapons storehouse and shop, shooting ranges, trenches, a target archery area, a 120-seat canteen, and a stand for spectators.

President Ilham Aliyev made several successful shots at a target.

The Head of State stressed the necessity of carrying out the construction work in line with highest standards.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today inspected construction of Karvansaray hotel complex as part of his Gabala visit.

The Head of State was informed that the complex will feature a 450-seat restaurant, a gym, a pool and a fitness center.

The complex will consist of two 3 and 4 storied parts.

The construction of the facility will be completed in the first half of 2013. The Head of State noted the necessity of carrying out the construction work in line with highest standards.

The Head of State was informed that construction of the mosque, initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, started in 2011.

The two-storied mosque will handle nearly 800 people. The complex features a library, a ceremonial hall and ablution areas.

The President emphasized the necessity of carrying out the construction work in line with highest standards.

The Azerbaijani President visited a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the center of Gabala. The President was updated on redevelopment work carried out in the Heydar Aliyev Park.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev today inaugurated a new residential area for 423 IDP families in Shaki.

The Head of State first visited the house of IDP Vagif Huseynov.

The President then viewed a 360-seat school in the area, where he met IDPs.
The school`s teacher Aysel Mustafayeva, principal of Shaki city school No 20 Mais Salimov and MP Yagub Mahmudov thanked the President for his attention to problems of IDP families and to development of Shaki.

The Head of State then viewed school No 29 in the area.

There are also a kindergarten, a public club, a medical facility and a postal office in the residential area for IDPs.

The area`s power, water and gas supply lines are connected to the communication system of Shaki.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev today inspected reconstruction work at the Culture and Leisure Park after M.F. Akhundzade in Shaki.

The Head of State put flowers at a monument to Akhundzade, the founder of the Azerbaijani national dramaturgy, in the park.

The President was informed that the park occupied a total area of 7 hectares.
Reconstruction saw the park receive two fountains and a modern lightning system. Decorative flowers and bushes were planted here.

President Ilham Aliyev praised the conditions created in the park.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today cut the ribbon to officially open 4-star Shaki Palace hotel in Shaki.

The Head of State was informed that the construction of the hotel started in 2007.

The hotel has VIP and special suits, a fitness center, a summer and winter restaurant, a conference and exhibition hall, and a tea house.

The President toured the facility, and praised its look and conditions.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has set a granary and mill complex in motion as part of his Shaki visit.

Executive Director of the National Fund for Entrepreneurship Support Shirzad Abdullayev told the Head of State the complex`s construction cost 4.5 million manats.

The President was informed that the Fund had so far allocated 69.3 million manats in loans to 1,239 entrepreneurs in the Shaki-Zagatala economic region. This contributed to creating nearly 7,800 jobs.

The President was told that the mill had a daily capacity of 220 tons of flour. The complex created 170 jobs.

The President toured the facility, and praised the conditions created here.

President Ilham Aliyev has laid the foundation stone for the Heydar Aliyev Center as part of his visit to Shaki.

The Head of state was informed that the center would occupy a total area of 5,629 square meters. The facility`s area will have the Heydar Aliyev Park and Flag Square. A new headquarters of Shaki City Executive Authorities will also be located here.

The three-storied center will have a museum, a 230-seat conference hall, a library, an exhibition hall, and language laboratories.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has visited Gulluk village secondary school in Gakh to inspect repair and reconstruction work.

The Head of State was informed that construction of a 420-seat school in Lakit village, a 240-seat school in Zarna village, a 220-seat school in Goraghan village, and a 300-seat school in Gulluk village continues.

The President toured the school, which had been repaired in 2004 but was damaged this year as a result of an earthquake.

The school, which occupies a total area of 163 square meters, will receive two new blocks, with one featuring a gym, and another an E-library, a reading hall, and a computer room.

The Head of State met local residents who thanked him for care and attention.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has visited a new house built for resident of Gulluk village Abdulla Mammadov in Gakh.

Mammadov`s house was damaged in a quake that hit the northern-western part of the country this May.

The President was told that 3,336 houses and 19 social facilities in Gakh were graded as damaged after the May quake by a special task force of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Some 295 houses were demolished in the region`s Gulluk, Gapichay, Lakit, Lakit-Kotuklu, Zarna and Fistigli villages. Construction work now continues in 266 of these houses.

President Ilham Aliyev was informed that the house built for Mammadov occupied a total area of 118 square meters. The two-storied house has fiver rooms.

Mammadov thanked the President for his care and attention.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has visited a newly built house of Gozbarakh village resident, Karabakh war veteran Mahir Soltanov.

Soltanov`s house was completely damaged in a quake that hit the northern-western part of the country this May.

Built by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the new house occupies a total area of 241 square meters.

The two-storied house has five rooms. The house is resistant to a magnitude 9 quake.

The Head of State toured the house. Soltanov thanked the President for his care and attention.

President Ilham Aliyev has laid the foundation stone for Bahmatli village secondary school in Zagatala, which will be built on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The President first put flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev at the site of the school.

The Head of State was told that the three-storied school will consist of three blocks. The construction of the 600-seat facility will be completed until the end of the year.

The President stressed the necessity of carrying out the construction work in line with highest standards.

The Head of State spoke with the school`s teachers.

President Ilham Aliyev has today opened Gozbarakh village kindergarten as part of his visit to Zagatala.

The Head of State visited the village this May when it was hit by a quake, and villagers asked him to order the construction of a kindergarten.

President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon officially opening the facility, and then toured it.

There are photo stands in the facility`s foyer highlighting national leader Heydar Aliyev`s, President Ilham Aliyev`s and first lady Mehriban Aliyeva`s care and attention to children.

The kindergarten has 21 rooms, a canteen, a library, medical and music rooms. The facility will open its doors to 50 children his year, who will be taught English and Russian languages among other subjects. The children will be served by 22 kindergarten teachers.

The President praised the conditions created in the facility.
He wished the kindergarten`s staff successes.

The Head of State cut the ribbon to officially open the 500-seat facility, and then toured it.

The school was completely damaged as a result of a quake which struck Zagatala this May.

The school, which now consists of three blocks, will open its doors to 250 pupils this year, who will be taught by 43 teachers.

The school has 36 classrooms, a library, computer rooms, a conference hall, a 150-seat canteen, teachers` rooms, and biological, chemistry and physics laboratories.

The President toured the school, and praised the facility`s look and conditions.
The Head of State then spoke with local residents.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today visited Zagatala as part of his tour of the country`s northern-western region.

Emergency situations minister Kamaladdin Heydarov and head of Zagatala Executive Authorities Mubariz Ahmadzade informed the President of the redevelopment work in the region. They also highlighted what had been done to tackle consequences of a quake, which hit the region this May.
President Ilham Aliyev then opened Zagatala secondary school No 2. He cut the ribbon symbolizing the official opening of the 750-seat facility.

Built in 1952, the building was considerably damaged during the quake. The three-storied school was rebuilt in accordance with instructions of the Head of State.

The school has 45 classrooms, laboratories, a library, a 250-seat canteen, and teachers` rooms. It also has English language and computer rooms.

There are 700 pupils in the facility served by 110 teachers.
The President toured the school, and praised its conditions.
