Turkish minister: 'France should keep neutrality'

14 July 2012 [09:11] - TODAY.AZ
If the present Administration of the French President François Hollande will repeat the error of his predecessor concerning Turkey, then, none of the sides will win”, the Turkish Minister for European Union Affairs, Egemen Bagish said. The news came from the Turkish media.

Mr. Egemen Bagish said the relations between Turkey and France have old history and they should not worsen as a result of doubtful decisions. “We repeatedly stated that in our history there is no genocide, and the one who wants it to find, let attentively study his own history’, the minister emphaszied.

Mr. Bagysh underlined that France, being the OSCE Minsk Group cochairman on settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict should keep neutrality and not support any of the conflict sides.
“And the attempts of acceptance of the bill on the Armenian statements are nothing but support of Armenia. It is unacceptable for the OSCE MG cochairman”, the minister said.

Noting that for objective studying of events of 1915, Turkey always put forward constructive and creative ideas, the minister said: “But we haven't received till now the answer of the Armenian side to our reference we made 7 years ago for studying of archives and creation of the joint historical commission.

We hope that France, led by newly elected President Hollande, will not repeat the errors of past”.
