Azerbaijan`s firts lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation
Mehriban Aliyeva has today met a Colombian delegation led by chairperson
of the Senate`s second constitutional committee Alexandra Moreno
Piraquive.
Prior to the meeting, the delegation watched a documentary on the activity of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Mehriban Aliyeva said she was happy to see the chairperson of the
Columbian Senate`s second constitutional committee in Azerbaijan.
The first lady thanked Alexandra Moreno Piraquive for a resolution of
the Columbian Parliament on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, in
particular, the recognition of the Khojaly genocide.
The President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation praised the activity of the Mrs. Piraquive on this front.
Mehriban Aliyeva briefed the delegation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The first lady said that as a result of Armenia`s military aggression
against Azerbaijan, 20 percent of the country`s territories was occupied
and more than one million Azerbaijanis were subjected to ethnic
cleansing.
Mrs. Aliyeva noted the Khojaly massacre was the bloodiest page of the conflict. “And making the truth of this tragedy known to the world is very
important in terms of preventing a repetition of such massacres.”
The chairperson of the Columbian Senate`s second constitutional
committee said she had good impressions from her visit to Azerbaijan.
Mrs. Piraquive noted Columbia was interested in developing bilateral relations with Azerbaijan.
