Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the newly appointed Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan Pascal Moni on Thursday, MFA told Trend.
Mammadyarov congratulated Moni on his appointment as ambassador and wished him success.
The Minister expressed the hope that the new Ambassador will contribute to the development of relations between the two countries.
The French diplomat expressed his satisfaction with the appointment and said that Azerbaijan is a modern, tolerant and cultured country.
Touching upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Mammadyarov said the delay in resolving the conflict is unacceptable.
The Minister stressed that primarily Armenian armed forces should be withdrawn from the occupied Azerbaijani lands to resolve the conflict, and noted that the proposals of the Armenian side are unacceptable.
Moni, in turn, noted that France and Azerbaijan share many common interests.
The ambassador said the two countries have great potential for cooperation in various fields, including security.
Ways of developing bilateral economic relations were also discussed during the meeting.
