'Azerbaijan, U.S will further strengthen bounds'

Azerbaijan and the U.S. strengthen the bounds between their governments, businesses and people, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said.

"It is a great opportunity to once again highlight the relationship between Azerbaijan and the U.S. They have been strengthening the bounds between our governments, businesses and people," U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told reporters at a press conference in Baku on Wednesday.

"The U.S committed to strengthening civil society and deepening raising and furthering the reforms that will lead to a long-term prosperity of Azerbaijan," she added.

According to her the U.S remains strongly committed to work with the government and people of Azerbaijan in respect of human rights and freedom as we always do."

Clinton discussed the release of Bakhtiyar Hajiyev during the meeting.

"I also discussed the progress reached in the situation with human rights with civil society leaders," she said.

Clinton called civil society to continue their work which will help to strengthen the opportunity for Azerbaijan to become even stronger and greater country because we believe that the country of 20-th century will be those to respect law, the press, freedom of expression and universal rights.
