Azerbaijani President holds series of meetings - UPDATE - PHOTOS

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday received a delegation of members of the UK House of Lords, including Lord Mohamed Iltaf Sheikh, Lord Kamlesh Kumar Patel, Lord Hugh John Maxwell Dyke and Richard John Grenville Spring, Lord Risby.

Lord Mohamed Iltaf Sheikh praised the Azerbaijan-UK cooperation, describing it as excellent in the political, economic and energy fields. He expressed confidence the cooperation between the two countries would broaden in the future. Lord Sheikh stressed the importance of BP`s activity in Azerbaijan, adding the UK was interested in expanding business cooperation with Azerbaijan in addition to cultural collaboration.

The Azerbaijani President mentioned his meeting with British Premier David Cameron on the sidelines of NATO Summit in Chicago, saying they had a fruitful discussion on the issues related to the bilateral relations.

President Ilham Aliyev said the relations between Azerbaijan and the UK had rich history. He stressed the importance of economic cooperation, in particular in energy sector and investment making.

The Azerbaijani leader emphasized the significance of the 19th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition Incorporating Refining and Petrochemicals, which got underway in Baku.
He said BP was one of Azerbaijan`s major partners, adding the two countries were successfully cooperating not only in the field of energy, but also in other branches of economy.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday received former German minister of foreign affairs Hans-Dietrich Genscher and his accompanying delegation.

The President recalled his meeting with Hans-Dietrich Genscher in Munich. The Head of State expressed satisfaction with the fact that Hans-Dietrich Genscher is accompanied by a large delegation. The President noted the visit would create good opportunity for discussions of issues related to development of cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Hans-Dietrich Genscher said the ongoing rapid development process in Azerbaijan made a deep impression on them. The former minister said his large delegation represents various strata of German society. Hans-Dietrich Genscher also said his country was interested in expansion of relations with Azerbaijan in all spheres, as well as the deepening of the European Union-Azerbaijan cooperation.
The sides exchanged views on expansion of cooperation in political, economic and cultural areas.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received Turkey`s Land Forces Commander Hayri Kivrikoglu.

They praised the Azerbaijan-Turkey relations, in particular in the military sphere. They expressed confidence the Turkish Land Forces Commander`s visit would be a success and contribute to expanding the military cooperation between the two countries.
