There are specific problems in Azerbaijani religious sphere. Different countries' attempts to use religion for political purposes are the most dangerous ones, newly appointed head of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Elshad Iskandarov told media today.
"These incidents have been recently occurred more often," he said. "Azerbaijan respects the way chosen by other countries. We also demand the same respect to the Azerbaijani model according to which the religion is separated from the state."
He said that there is positive progress in Azerbaijan's religious policy and all spheres of life.
"The religious communities, the faithful feel Azerbaijan's achievements in the economy and social sphere," he said.
He added that Azerbaijan's religious policy has been aimed at strengthening the statehood.
"Since Azerbaijan gained its independence, no country managed or will manage to break this policy. Therefore, it is better for them to abandon these intentions."
