Azerbaijan`s Republic Day marked in Lithuania

Azerbaijan`s embassy in Lithuania has organized a ceremony on the occasion of 28 May-Republic Day.

The ceremony brought together more than 400 guests including, Chairman of the Committee on European affairs of Lithuanian parliament Ceslovas Vytautas Stankevicius, Lithuania`s Interior Minister Art?ras Melianas, Economy Minister Arvydas Sekmokas, member of the European Parliament Vytautas Landsbergis, member of the Lithuanian Seimas Egidiyus Vareykis, as well as members of Lithuanian Parliament, officials of the Cabinet of Ministers, diplomats accredited in Lithuania, and politicians.

Ambassador Hasan Mammadzade spoke of the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and provided information on the comprehensive development of modern Azerbaijan.
The ambassador expressed gratitude to Lithuania for giving high points to Azerbaijan at the “Eurovision-2012” Song Contest.

Mammadzade also touched upon Armenia`s policy of occupation and ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijan, expressing regret over the fact the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has not yet been resolved.

The ceremony featured performance by Azerbaijani mugham masters. Azerbaijani tastes and meals were served at the ceremony. A special broadcast dedicated to the Day of Republic was shown at the Lithuanian Television channel program Labas rytas (Good Morning). The Azerbaijani Ambassador`s interview also broadcast at the program.
