Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany issued a statement regarding critical media reports on Azerbaijan published by German media.
The statement says that the criticism is reasonable if it is based on unbiased reports.
"Publications on Azerbaijan, appearing recently in the German press, are based on erroneous and incomplete information. Positive developments related to the improving of living standards in Azerbaijan are fully, consciously ignored making room for only groundless criticism. We even could not imagine that an independent media can publish materials in such a lopsided manner. We are waiting for fair, impartial and truthful articles," the statement says.
The statement also covers an adoption of human rights promotion document triggered by the President of Azerbaijan in 2011, ensuring of freedom of speech and press; permission to hold peaceful, legal actions, banning only the unauthorized actions, as in other countries.
"As a country which has been unjustly divided into two parts for 40 years, Germany does not pay enough attention to the fact that 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory are under Armenian occupation. Probably, the fact of occupation of Azerbaijani lands is not interesting enough for it. This is absolutely unfair,” the statement says.
