Strong and prosperous Azerbaijan will always be an American friend and partner. Azerbaijan will have a positive economic impact not just region but on the world, said Congressman Gregg Harper in the conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of establishment of relations between Azerbaijan and the US.

Gregg Harper stressed: “I wanna share you few things - my thoughts on the relationship between Azerbaijan and US and joint roles our countries play in helping to meet world’s energy needs. First, let me say that the relationship between Azerbaijan and the US continues to grow stronger as we enter our 3rd decade of fantastic partnership. The alliance between our counters is good because we share common understood in the region’s strategic vision. Second, recognize and thank you for soldiers you sent to Afghanistan and Iraq to support fighting global war on terrorism. I and my nation are truly grateful. Your nation served as a vital transit and hub for thousands of our military who pass though your nation. I look forward to seeing these security arrangements grown into cultural and economic issues.
My home state of Mississippi and Azerbaijan are very similar. Caspian Sea large oil reserves, Mississippi’s gulf coast. We are vast natural oil and gas reserves. They are very political for both of our regions. As a member of the committee on energy I helped shape our country’s energy policies – oil discovery, extraction, transport. That is something Azerbaijan does daily. As your work on Southern Corridor to deliver gas supplies to Europe, I also worked on pipeline matter as well. Azerbaijan certainly embraced common sense energy projects instead of rejecting them. This makes good sense to do them. As the world population continues to grow it’s becoming extremely important that societies have reliable sources oil and gas.

It’s obvious that Azerbaijan continues to play a pivotal role in energy needs o f the world and stability of world markets. I believe it’s of utmost importance that US continues our partnership thus insuring that Caspian region remains a relying energy producer. The reliability of energy resources hinders on many factors world oil supply can be disrupted by only one producer. If oil producing country shuts off or reduces supply, blocking shipping land or stopping production, the whole world can feel the consequences.

It is my hope that cool minds and the in international community will ensure an uninterrupted supply of oil in our immediate future. It’s important for all of us”.
