'Iraq praises ongoing development processes in Azerbaijan'

Members of the Azerbaijani parliament, Milli Majlis Ilham Mammadov and Ganira Pashayeva have met their Iraqi counterparts Fovzi Akram Saman and Majid Mohammed Khalaf.

Ilham Mammadov, chairman of the Azerbaijan-Iraq interparliamentary friendship group said Azerbaijan-Iraq relations enjoy deep roots. He underscored the role of legislative bodies in development of bilateral relations. Mammadov also spoke of the importance of reciprocal visits of both countries` MPs. He added the current visit of Iraqi parliamentarians to Azerbaijan would give impetus to expansion of cooperation between the two countries.

Ganira Pashayeva said her country was interested in boosting cooperation with Iraq in all spheres. She also touched on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, acts of vandalism committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis. Pashayeva noted official Yerevan does not honor documents adopted by international organizations.

The Iraqi parliamentarians praised the ongoing development processes in Azerbaijan. They said Iraq was interested in development of comprehensive cooperation with Azerbaijan. The MPs also stressed the role of parliaments in expansion of bilateral ties. The Iraqi parliamentarians were handed over books and other materials about the history and culture of Azerbaijan.
