U.S. Embassy in Baku marked Novruz holiday

The U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan has today held an event devoted to Novruz holiday. U.S Charge d'Affaires in Azerbaijan Adam Sterling congratulated Azerbaijani people with Novruz holiday and wished success.

The embassy officials, public representatives and other guests attended the event. Azerbaijani national music sounded and national confectionery were presented.

Then a banquet consisting of Azerbaijani national dishes was organized.

The UN General Assembly adopted the resolution 'International Day of Novruz' on February 24, 2010. According to it, the UN recognizes March 21 as International Day of Novruz and calls upon member states of the organization to make efforts to disseminate knowledge about this ancient holiday.

Novruz holiday is celebrated in Azerbaijan on March 20-21.
