Victims of Khojaly genocide commemorated in foreign countries

The Pakistan`s newspaper “Daily Ittehad” published an article on the 20th anniversary of Khojaly genocide. The newspaper says about resolutions passed by Pakistani and Mexican parliaments on recognition of Khojaly genocide, a message by the President Ilham Aliyev to the people of Azerbaijan on the tragedy and nationwide march held in Baku, on February 26 on the occasion of the genocide.

The Hungarian newspaper “Nepszava” published an article on the Khojaly genocide.
The author of the article Atilla Charnai says: “At night from February 25 to 26 the Armenian armed forces occupied the town of Khojaly. The occupation was carried out with active support of several units of the Russian Army`s 366th regiment. Occupation of Khojaly was followed with unprecedented brutalities against the civilian population. In a few hours the aggressors killed 613 innocent and unarmed people. Among them were 106 women, 83 children. 56 people were killed with special brutality. 8 families were totally exterminated. 25 children were totally, and 130 children were partly orphaned. 476 people became disabled persons (of them 76 were minors). 1275 people were taken into hostage and even though afterwards most of the hostages were released from captivity, the fates of 150 of them are still unknown.
Charnai writes that the Khojaly genocide is marked in many countries, including Turkey, Holland, Germany and Mexico.

Azerbaijani Embassy in Libya held a series of events on the 20th anniversary of Khojaly genocide. The booklets, CDs about the tragedy were sent to the governmental structures of Libya.

Azerbaijan-Sweden Friendship Society held an event to commemorate victims of Khojaly genocide.
The participants watched a documentary on the “Armenian terror” and adopted decision to hold a rally in Sweden on the Khojaly genocide next year.

A conference “Israel-Azerbaijan: strategic union” held in Israel. A photo exhibition on the Khojaly genocide with support of Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAc) also opened within the conference.

The books issued by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, photos, the book “Khojaly. The genocide of the 20th century” – joint project of Azerbaijan Presidential Administration and AzerTAC, booklets of Azerbaijan State Committee on Work with Diaspora were presented at the exhibition.

The MPs of Azerbaijan and Israel, scientists, political figures, representatives of the foreign affairs ministry were among the participants.
