
On February 25 members of the Houston`s and College Station`s Azerbaijani community gathered in the center of Houston`s business district to stage Khojaly Massacre peace rally.
Azerbaijani American Community of Texas marked the 20th anniversary of Khojaly Massacre perpetuated by Armenian detachments and 366th regiment of the then Soviet Army in the town of Khojaly village where 613 civilians lay dead. Houstonian Azeris held up signs calling for wider awareness of this atrocity, stating the facts about the killed, wounded and captive civilians, recognition of the massacre by various legislatures including by House of Representatives of Texas, Massachusetts, Senate Committees of Mexico and Pakistan.
The initiator of the rally, President of Houston Azerbaijanis organization Javid Zeynalov said "Our goal in holding the peace rally is to raise awareness about Khojaly Massacre so that the world knows what had happened on February 26, 1992 so that the international community prevents future atrocities." Co-founder of U.S. Azeris Network, Yusif Babanly stated that "the House of Representatives of the State of Texas which has formally recognized Khojaly Massacre with HR535 in March 2011 became the first state and parliament to adopt a non-binding resolution in memory of the innocent victims." The event was organized by Houston Azerbaijanis, U.S. Azeris Network (USAN) and was joined by ATA-Houston (American Turkish Association).

Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Czech Republic and the Azer-Czech Society held an action at the central square of Prague under the motto “Justice for Khojaly – Light for Khojaly”, to mark the 20th anniversary of Khojaly genocide.

“Ojag” Azerbaijani Cultural Center and “Azeri” Society with the support of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Latvia held a commemoration action dedicated to the anniversary of Khojaly tragedy.
