The Musavat party congress will focus on the issue of keeping Isa Gampar in the post of the party chairman. However, there are certain problems that cannot be hidden, Azadlig Party Chairman Ahmad Oruj said.

He believes the forthcoming Musavat party congress could affect the future policies of the party. “He said the ongoing processes indicate a serious problem - the structure of most opposition parties in Azerbaijan are based on individuals, which is a sign of weakness of these parties,” he noted.

"Azerbaijan's opposition parties are known not by ideologies, but by leaders. This is linked with the fact that their voters are not fully aware of the ideology and political platforms of these political organizations. The party members gathered around political leaders. For example, the society sees no difference between the party Musavat and the Classic Popular Front Party.  So when it comes to politics, one or two politicians come to mind, which is certainly evidence of their weakness," Oruj said.
