'Serbia may recognise Khojaly genocide'

13 February 2012 [14:23] - TODAY.AZ
Serbia may recognise the Khojaly genocide massacre, Serbian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zoran Vayovich said at a press conference. "Parliamentary friendship groups operate in the parliaments of Serbia and Azerbaijan," he said. "The Serbian side has recently received an invitation from its counterparts to visit Azerbaijan.

Perhaps, the recognition of the Khojaly genocide, given the friendly relations between the two countries, will be discussed within this visit."

The genocide was carried out by Armenian military forces in Khojaly on Feb. 26, 1992. More than 600 people were killed, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 elderly men. A total of 1000 civilians were disabled during the genocide. The fact of the Khojaly genocide has been recognised by the parliaments of Pakistan and Mexico.
