'Continuation of Karabakh conflict leads to human losses'

Speaking in the PACE winter session UK Minister of State for Europe David Lidington answered questions by the members of the Azerbaijani delegation.

Member of Azerbaijani delegation Rafael Huseynov asked the UK minister how he can contribute to the liberation of Azerbaijan`s territories from Armenia`s occupation and the return of one million Azerbaijani refugees and IDPs to their homeland. David Lidington reminded that the OSCE Minsk Group is engaged in the settlement of this problem.

“Of course, the Council of Europe is also making efforts on this issue. Both Azerbaijan and Armenia undertook commitments to achieve peaceful settlement of the conflict when they joined CoE. We follow the negotiations between Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents. Our main desire is to achieve concrete results in peace talks. Because continuation of the conflict leads to human losses and we are against this. The United Kingdom is interested in peaceful settlement of the conflict and taking the necessary steps in this direction”.
