The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be resolved, the new PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon told reporters at a press conference during the winter plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe that began on Monday.
"I think we should trust the OSCE Minsk Group dealing with the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict" Mignon said. Mignon noted that the Minsk Group, which is constantly gathered in Vienna and co-chaired by the United States, Russia and France, is commendable.
"I am more than confident that the conflict will be resolved within the framework of the Minsk Group. I hope that the Azerbaijani and Armenian friends will demonstrate a more sensible position at this assembly. I think that if the parties will continue to hold those positions as before, we did not achieve any progress," Mignon said.
Mignon also noted that the political will and desire should be demonstrated with regard to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "I can say based on personal experience that sometimes it is necessary to take more constructive position to heard by one or another side" Mignon said.
