Ukrainian Azerbaijanis condemn French parliament's decision

The Congress of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis issued a statement strongly condemning the bill of the Lower Chamber of the French parliament criminalizing denial of the so-called “Armenian genocide”.

The Congress sent the protest message to the French Embassy in Ukraine. The statement says that the bill has political motives and the French President tries to earn the votes of citizens of Armenian origin using administrative resources at his disposal.

The statement notes that the bill violates the principles of freedom of speech and Convention on Human Rights, European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
