Russia hosts conference on 50th jubilee of Azerbaijani President

A scientific-practice conference to mark the 50th jubilee of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and 31 December- the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis was held in Park Inn Pribaltiyskaya St Petersburg Hotel, Russia on Sunday.

The conference was organized with support of the regional public organization "Azerbaijani Diaspora of Saint-Petersburg" and the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in St. Petersburg. According to the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in St. Petersburg, the conference attended by representatives of Azeri Diaspora, Azerbaijani students and youth studying there and public figures.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the event, Consul of Azerbaijan`s Consulate General Elshad Gulamov touched on significant roles of “Society of friends of Nakhchivan”, “Association of Azerbaijani businessmen in St Petersburg” and the regional public organization "Azerbaijani Diaspora of Saint-Petersburg" in the popularization of Azerbaijan.

Chairman of the regional public organization "Azerbaijani Diaspora of Saint-Petersburg", academician Heydar Imanov made a speech on Azerbaijanis integration into the Russian society and importance of protection of Azerbaijani culture, history and customs and traditions. Heydar Imanov stressed the Azerbaijani government `s care and attention to Diaspora organizations operating abroad.

The conference addressed by Consul General of Turkey in St Petersburg Tancu Bilginc, chairman of “Society of friends of Nakhchivan” Idris Gahramanov, permanent representative of Azerbaijan in the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Aydin Jafarov, head of the International Centre for Diaspora (ICD) Ismayil Agayev and others.
