Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation appeals to France

Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation`s Executive Committee has sent a message to the French parliament, and a number of trade union organizations condemning a bill of this country`s parliament`s Lower Chamber on criminalizing denial of the so-called “Armenian genocide”.

The Confederation expresses regret since the French parliament did not respond to even to the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia, Khojaly genocide, but approved a bill on criminalizing denial of the so-called “Armenian genocide”.

The statement says that so-called “Armenian genocide” has become a “political speculation”. Such issues have to be addressed not by politicians, but historians. This decision cast shadow on France`s image as a democratic and secular state. The Azerbaijani Confederation expressed hope that the bill which can cause detriment to the friendship and mutual trust among the nations would not be approved by the French Senate
