"Azerbaijan's mugham is one of the world's musical masterpieces"

Azerbaijan's mugham is one of the world's musical masterpieces, said Liji Lian, a professor at the Chinese Xinjiang Uygur art academy.

Lian participated in the 2nd international mugham festival in Baku.

He called the festival "a brilliant opportunity to promote Azerbaijan's mugham". Lian said he would benefit from experience of Azeri mugham masters.

The professor praised the fact Azerbaijan's mugham was incorporated into the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

"The art of mugham is a tremendous contribution to the world culture," Lian added.
