Azerbaijan to join Kazan Int’l Festival of Muslim Cinema 2016

Azerbaijan will be represented at 12th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival to be held in Kazan, 2016, Trend Life reported.

The national film " I`m back" directed by Mahir Janas will be screened there on September 5-11.

The storyline is about a young man-the grandson of a veteran of the WWII. Due to family circumstances forced to sell the apartment which he inherited from his grandfather. This happens in day of the victory parade. Selling an apartment for the newlyweds, he leaves the apartment. Conscience torments him at every step. The words of the little boy in the yard "And your grandfather goes to the parade"? hurt him. He bravely returned to the apartment and refuses to sell the apartment.

The feature film starring Ivan Novikov, Aleksandr Udaltsov, Andrei Yudin, Anna Prostova, Pavel Peregudov, Ekaterina Sokolova, Ekaterina Polish was produced by Mahir Janas, Pavel Peregudov.

The film was highly appreciated by cinema lovers and received a number of awards at such international festivals as "Window to Europe 2015" (Best short film), "Lamp 2015" (Best short fiction) and many others.

Kazan International Muslim Film Festival has been held in the capital city of Tatarstan since 2005. The first festival was initiated by the Council of Muftis of Russia, Federal agency for culture and cinematography of Russia, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan with the support of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The motto of the festival is “To the dialogue of cultures through the culture of dialogue”.

The aim of the festival is to exchange experience between the culture industry workers of Russia and Muslim countries, display the creative achievements of the Muslim cinematographers and the representatives of the other religious affiliations.

The festival, featuring 60 films from 30 countries, will be chaired by film director, people's artist of Russia, laureate of the State prize of the USSR Alesandr  Proshkin.

The winners will be awarded with  statuettes and special prizes.
