Guests were informed about the work that was done in the recent years in the Khachmaz region, realized projects and activities, as well as about the progress made in the economic and tourism sectors.

Then guests were presented a concert program with the participation of folklore and dance groups, musicians and singers.

As most northeastern region of Azerbaijan, Khachmaz is divided between the Caucasus Mountains in Guba, the Gusar region to the west, and the Caspian Sea to the east.

The region, in addition to Khachmaz city includes Khudat city, Yalama village and dozens of other villages. The climate is temperate and there are sources of thermal and mineral waters. Herbs such as rose, bindweed, willow, lemon balm and others are common for the region’s flora. In the vicinity, there are good conditions for hunting and fishing.

Gulalnsky Reserve and the most popular rest zone in the country, Nabran, is located here.

The region is very rich with historical monuments, culture and architecture. The most appealing attractions are Sarkartapa, the ancient city-fortress Khudat, the 4th century Albanian mosque, the 16th century mosque-madrasa of Shah Abbas of the XV-XVI centuries in Garaqurtlu, a village in Khachmaz, ancient settlements and the barrows of the Bronze Age and the famous “Iron gate” of Derbent fortress, a symbol of its impenetrability.

Khachmaz is very famous for its carpet weaving.

The resorts in Nabran are part of the climatic health resorts of Azerbaijan. The local sea water, hot sand and sun baths are extremely healthy for recreation and the treatment of many diseases.

Khachmaz annually receives thousands of visitors coming to rest on the Caspian coast. The Yalama- Khachmaz coast is considered to be of the most beautiful places of the country. Nabran is always crowded in the summer. Thousands of tourists from all over the country and from abroad come here to gain strength and take a break from everyday work. The relict forests have a lot of ancient beeches and elms. There are a variety of restaurants offering delicious national and European cuisine along the coast.

You can easily visit nearby cities and regions if you stay in Nabran. For example, one can go to Khachmaz with its shady parks and cozy tea houses, explore the ancient fortress city of Khudat, visit the baths with curing thermal waters in Khudat or pay a visit to Gusar Olympic Complex.

The purpose of activities carried out within the framework of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism "From the Region to the Capital" is to familiarize Baku residents and guests with social and economic development, the ancient and rich culture and traditions of the region, and the promotion of tourism potential of the country.
