Baku has not yet exhausted the list of surprises for its citizens and has prepared for them a spontaneous exhibit in the… underground!

An opening ceremony of an exhibition that featured reproductions of famous paintings as part of the project “Metro Gallery” was held on October 15, with organizational support from Baku Metro.

This third exhibition was organized at the metro station "Nariman Narimanov" and garnered positive reactions from spectators.

Baku Metro spokesman Nizami Pashayev said it is the first such exhibition in Azerbaijan. "Today 85 works are demonstrated, where 15 of them are portraits of artists themselves and 70 of them are the works of artists. Information about the paintings is written in the corner of each picture. The purpose of the event is to create conditions for education for Baku residents and for the capital’s guests."

The exhibition will run until April 15, 2016. There are pieces from such famous artists as Hieronymus Bosch, Karl Brullov, Vincent Van Gogh, Botticelli, Leonardo de Vinci, Edward Munch, Rembrandt, Pierre-August Renoir and others.

For the first time, Baku Metro has a applied system of QR-codes (quick response) to obtain information about the paintings.

Earlier, art exhibitions took place in Ganjlik and Nasimi undergrounds and achieved much success.
