Azerbaijan: Land of Tolerance exhibition to be featured in Paris

The “Azerbaijan: Land of Tolerance” exhibition will open its doors to all art lovers in Paris on August 18.

World famous for his intrepid style of photographing the world's most exotic places, Reza is putting on display a series of photographs on the Christian, Muslim, and Jewish communities cohabitating in Azerbaijan.

All are driven by a deep commitment for sharing, mutual respect, and dialogue with each other.

The exhibition, to be held between August 18 and September 10, highlights the millennial ties that all of these religious communities have forged with each other.

”Together, they live a dream of communal harmony which I hope one day will become a reality throughout the world,” Reza said.

Reza has covered most of the globe for National Geographic magazine.

Through his photographs, the photographer has always tried to capture the testimonies of human kind, particularly in places where different cultures intersect. For thirty years, he has traveled the roads of the world examining religion.

Reza observed Azerbaijan, a place where Christians, Muslims, and Jews live peacefully on the same land, over the course of several months while reporting in the country.

“I was invited to break the fast with Muslims during the month of Ramadan,” the photographer said. “I witnessed the first Christians (the Oudis) from the Caucasus region pray, and explored the small streets of the ‘Red Village,’ one of the only all Jewish enclaves outside of Israel. From one community to the next, I was deeply moved by these profound believers.”

This is not the first exhibition of the famous photographer about Land of Fire. In 2014, an exhibition titled "Azerbaijan: Elegance of Fire" was featured in Paris.

The Elegance of Fire showed Reza’s view of a people with an ancestral culture undergoing a major evolution as they head towards modernity.
