Rhythmic Irish dance to grace Baku

As part of the 1st Baku European Games currently underway in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku has delighted its guests with several entertainment programs.

Organized by the Culture and Tourism Ministry, these events allow the country’s guests to enjoy all that the city has to offer alongside the sporting events.

A performance by the Irish "Rhythm of the Dance" dance group is sure to entertain guests from all over Europe.

The event called "Back to our Irish Roots" promises to be unforgettable, since the group has already won the hearts of millions of people throughout the world with its modern and traditional dances performed in unique national attire.

The group will include more than 20 talented dancers that will present modern interpretations of ancient Irish dance traditions. The show will also feature a live orchestra along with three tenor singers.

The event is scheduled for 7:00pm, June 26, at the Heydar Aliyev Palace at Bulbul Avenue.

The show is an inspiring epic, reliving the journey of the Irish Celts throughout history. Using modern art forms of dance and music, this performance marries the contemporary with the ancient.

Combining traditional dance and music with the most up-to-date stage technology, “Back to our Irish Roots” is a thousand year old story executed with all the advantages of the modern stage show.

“Rhythm of the Dance” has heralded a new era in Irish entertainment, internationally rated as one of the most popular Irish step dance shows in the world. Rhythm of the Dance, preserving the traditions of Irish step dancing while presenting it in the most modern format, has become a leader in its field.

The impressive Baku 2015 European Games, which gathered 6,000 athletes across Europe kicked off on June 12 and will last until June 28. Athletes from 50 European countries are competing in 20 sporting events. 12 of sporting events are recognized as qualifiers for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
