Pomegranate tree exhibition opens in Baku

"Pomegranate Tree" exhibition of young Azerbaijani artists was held in Shirvanshahs Palace Complex in the ancient part of Baku - Icheri Sheher on October 29.

The exhibition is dedicated to the upcoming holiday of pomegranate, which is celebrated annually in Azerbaijan in early November.

The event was organized by creative youth club "Constellation" at the Russian Information and Cultural Center (RICC) in Baku.

Speaking at the event, Head of Museum-Reserve Rena Rzayeva noted that this exhibition is not the first one, which the museum is holding jointly with the creative youth club "Constellation" at the RICC.

It was emphasized that such events attract young people to the museum promoting art and beauty among them.

Head of Russian cooperation in Azerbaijan Valentin Denisov, Rena Rzayeva and Head of the club "Constellation" Munavvar Mukhtarova presented special diplomas to the exhibition's participants.

Mukhtarova added that the exhibition will last for one week in Park Boulevard from November 1.

Thirty young and talented artists displayed their works at the exhibition.

The pomegranate is a unique fruit, and Azerbaijan is the only country in the world which grows all varieties of pomegranate. The bright juicy fruit has long been a symbol of Azerbaijan.

Since 2006 the Pomegranate Festival being held on the harvesting time has been celebrated in Azerbaijan's Goychay region in early November.

The varieties of pomegranates grown in different villages of Goychay and the products made of pomegranate are brought to the center of the region and shown at an exhibition in the town square.

Young athletes' performances and concerts take place in the town's center as well.

The main purpose of the holiday is to promote the region's culture and its economic capacities to attract more tourists.
