Azerbaijan to be guest country at int'l tourism exhibition

Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism exhibition (XVII "La Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico") will be held in Paestum, Italy on October 30-November 2.

Azerbaijan will join the exhibition as an official guest country.

Azerbaijan`s participation in the event as an official guest country is realized with the support of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as well as Azerbaijani Embassy in Italy.

The presentation ceremony of the 1st European Games to be held in Baku in 2015 will be held as part of the exhibition.

Azerbaijani jazz performer Elchin Shirinov and State Song and Dance Ensemble will perform at the event.

A night of Azerbaijani cuisine will be organized as part of the event on October 31.

Azerbaijani delegation led by deputy minister of culture and tourism Vagif Aliyev will attend the event.

To underline the importance of cultural heritage as a factor of intercultural dialogue, social integration and economic development, the event promotes cooperation among peoples through participation and exchange of experiences: after Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, France, Algeria, Greece, Libya, Peru, Portugal, Cambodia, Turkey, and Venezuela, the official guest country for 2014 will be Azerbaijan.

It is a successful format, as testified by the collaboration of international organizations such as UNESCO, UNWTO and ICCROM, but also by 10.000 visitors, 130 exhibitors with 25 foreign countries, 50 conferences and meetings, 300 speakers, 250 offer operators, 100 journalists.

The Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism confirms itself as an unique international event and home of the only exhibition hall in the world dedicated to archaeological heritage and to ArchaeoVirtual.

It is also the first international event dedicated to multimedia, interactive and virtual technologies and place for the study and debate on cultural heritage and tourism issues.

Moreover, the exhibition will be meeting place for professional business, touristic and cultural operators and for travelers; business opportunity inside the inspiring location of the Archaeological Museum with the Workshop between foreign buyers and cultural and archaeological tourism offer.
