Azerbaijan’s northern region marks juicy Apple Feast

The third annual Apple Festival was held at a culture and recreation park named after Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan's northern region of Guba on October 22.

The heads of regions' executive bodies, intellectuals, MPs, Guba businessmen living abroad, as well as more than 100 foreign visitors had been invited to the event.

A parade of Azerbaijani three-colored flag, held during the event thrilled up the visitors.

Different products reflecting national traditions in Azerbaijan were displayed and various sweets, cocktails and drinks made of apples were presented to the event participants.

Stands featuring folklore, cuisine and the lifestyle of minorities living in the region particularly attracted the attention of foreign nationals.

Guba Tourism Information Center's members also took part in the event, where several prizes were presented to the guests of the feast.

The feast concluded with a concert of popular artists.

No accident that Guba people annually celebrate this juicy and flavor festival. Guba is the edge of apple aroma. The region is often called as "apple orchard" because of the great varieties of apples that grow only there.

The people of Guba claim that there are more than 40 different varieties of apples there, which have turned into the symbol of the city.

Guba , being one of the major cities in Azerbaijan, is one of the favorite places of tourists , who come here to admire the magnificent mountains, forests and canyon of this picturesque region. Indeed, the sceneries of Guba are hard to describe with words. It seems the nature has collected there the brightest colors: juicy greens of the alpine meadows, white snow caps, rapid transparent-blue mountain rivers.
