Germany’s national holiday marked in Baku

Germany's national holiday the German Unity Day was celebrated in Azerbaijani capital city Baku on September 30.

The German embassy in Azerbaijan has organized an official reception to mark the holiday.

Addressing the event, Ambassador Heidrun Tempel spoke of development of the relations between the two countries.

She noted that Germany was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan`s independence, expressing confidence that the Germany-Azerbaijan cooperation would continue to develop in a variety of fields.

Speaking at the event, Azerbaijan`s Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev congratulated the German people.

Mammadguliyev also praised development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany in political, economic, humanitarian and cultural fields.

Also, member of the German Bundestag Steffen-Claudio Lemme hailed developing relations between Azerbaijan and Germany.

The official reception brought together state and government officials of Azerbaijan, MPs, ambassadors of foreign countries in Baku and public figures.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Germany were established in February 1992. The economic relations between the two countries are developing successfully. To date, 67 documents have been signed between Azerbaijan and Germany in various fields.

Azerbaijan has sent about 200 entrepreneurs and young managers to various German cities in 2009-2014 to take training courses within a joint program to upgrade their skills in business management.
