Young Turkic writers gathered in Azerbaijani capital

A forum of young writers and poets of the Turkic world kicked off at the Rashid Behbudov State Song Theatre in the Azerbaijani capital Baku on July 1.

Writers from Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Germany, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in Ukraine, Russia's Bashkortostan, Sakha, Chuvashia, Gagauzia (Moldova), as well as those from Moscow and St. Petersburg joined the event.

Head of the World Association of Young Turkic Writers Akbar Goshaly, informing attendees about the organization, said that it was established in Kazakhstan in 1998. Over the past 15 years it has implemented a plethora of projects and published various books.

It was noted that a congress of the association will be held on July 2. Changes will be made in the management of the association and a new stage will begin in its activity.

On the occasion of the 15-year-long activity of the association, a reputable publication that covers the past, present and future of the literature of the Turkic world will be prepared.

The writers attending the forum are expected to hold a number of meetings and participate at different events.

Azerbaijani parliament members Nizami Jafarov and Ganira Pashayeva said that the association plays a significant role in the acquaintance of Turkic writers with each other.

Those writers who have achieved great success over the 15-year period were conferred awards from the association.

The project of the World Association of Young Turkic Writers "Baku Forum of Young Writers of the Turkic world" is being implemented with the support of the Youth Fund under the President of Azerbaijan and will run three days.
