Azerbaijani Classical Music night held in San Diego - PHOTOS

San Diego, California, has hosted the Night of Azerbaijani Classical Music, the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles said. The event was held at the Birch North Parth Theatre located in Switzer-Highland, sister with Baku’s Nasimi District.

The Night was preceded by a reception for officials and public figures. The Night started with performance of Azerbaijan`s national anthem by the Grossmont School chorus. Prominent musicians led by conductor Randall Tweed offered a special program highlighting the richness of Azerbaijani musical traditions.

The audiences in San Diego welcomed Azerbaijani classical pieces Kurt Avshari and Gulustan Bayati Shiraz symphonic mugam by composer Fikrat Amirov and Seven Beauties by Gara Garayev with a prolonged applause and standing ovation.

La Mesa City vice mayor Ernest Ewin thanked the Grossmont Musical School for the event and presented an acknowledgement letter to the employees of the Consulate General for the cultural cooperation with San Diego community.

The ceremony was organized by support of inhabitants of Switzer-Highland and Dr. Randall Tweed, Director of Choral/Orchestral Activities at Grossmont College.
