No charges for local phone calls

15 December 2011 [11:09] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry withdrew a package of proposals involving the introduction of time-based payment system for telephone conversations, Ministry’s spokesman Mushfig Amirov reported.

"Taking into account the population’s reaction towards the ministry’s proposal, we deemed it appropriate to remove from the agenda for now. In this regard, we have formally appealed to the Tariff Board with a request to withdraw the proposals," he said.

He did not excluded the possibility of  resuming the discussions in this direction. "However, today the use of time-based charging is considered inappropriate," Amirov said.

Today, the entire telephone system of Azerbaijan was moved into e- form. Accordingly, the ministry has proposed the use of time-based payment system for telephone calls in accordance with international practice.
