WB to consider social project in Azerbaijan

WB Project Manager Anastasia Aleksandrova will visit Baku on Dec. 11-17 to examine the work conducted within the project of developing social protection in Azerbaijan, the WB Baku office reported today.

The loan agreement on the project was signed between the WB and the Azerbaijani government in November 2008. The total project cost is $54.6 million. As of September 2011, the WB allocated $26.7 million through the International Development Association. About $5 million were spent.

The project consists of four main components aimed at modernizing the labor market, the pension system, including the improvement of labor legislation, labor protection system, employment services. The project covers five years from 2008 to 2013.
