
Azerbaijan is discussing with Russia the possibility of increasing the volume of oil transportation via Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline, said the Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev APA reports quoting RIA-Novosti.
”We are negotiating with the “Transneft” and the Russian Ministry of Energy, in order to revise certain provisions of our agreement that we signed in 1996 and, of course, there will be scheduled some new ground, and I think they will be directed upwards. I think it will be at least 5 million tons a year”.
Remind that, according to inter-governmental agreement on the transit of Azeri oil via Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline, which was signed in 1996, provides the transportation of five million tons of oil a year. However, the “Transneft” offered to reconsider the terms of the bilateral agreement. It indicates that Azerbaijan must increase the volume of pumping or give quotas for the transportation to other companies.
