Azerbaijan will provide each opportunity for the creation of the Southern energy corridor, vice-president of SOCAR Tofig Gahramanov said at a conference in Ashgabat.
Delivering speech at the XVI Scientific Conference “Development of oil and gas industry for 20 years of independence and the prospects of international cooperation”, he noted the similarity of the positions of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in ensuring the diversification of their export opportunities.
“The creation of the Southern energy corridor, construction of a pipeline across the Caspian Sea assumes great interest for solution of these issues. Naturally, we support this project, and Azerbaijan will provide its own territory and transit opportunities, and infrastructure to implement it”, said Gahramanov.
He stressed that all this requires further detailed discussion and close deals with the European Commission.
Southern energy corridor will deliver gas to Europe from Central Asia and Azerbaijan, and includes Nabucco, TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) and ITGI (Turkey-Greece-Italy) pipeline projects.
