Azerbaijan's defense production increased by 11.2 times in facilities of Defense Industry Ministry in first half of 2011

The defense production increased by 11.2 times in the facilities of the Defense Industry Ministry in the first half of 2011 compared to the reporting period of last year.

Defense Industry Minister Yaver Jamalov said this at the roundtable on the theme “Heydar Aliyev’s role in the establishment and development of the defense industry of the independent Azerbaijan”.

Minister said the volume of the civil products increased by 14% in the reporting period, the number of the kinds of the products increased by 34%.

“The defense products made in the ministry’s facilities are demonstrated in the international exhibitions. The Defense Industry Ministry, which participated in IDEF-2009 in Turkey with 27 kinds of defense products, demonstrated 89 kinds of products in IDEF-2011,” minister said.

Noting that the Defense Industry Ministry carries out a number of important activities Yaver Jamalov said 14 facilities were overhauled, provided with the equipment meeting international standards.
