Development of "Shahdeniz-2" to be started within this year

Development of “Shahdeniz-stage 2”, located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea will start within this year, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said.

To him, this project will significantly contribute to energy security of Turkey and Europe: “Today, we mark 15th anniversary of Shahdeniz-1 project”.

Remind that, within framework of the development of Shahdeniz-2 project, annual gas production in the country is expected to reach 30 bln cubic meters.

Shareholders of the projects are - BP (main operator – 25.5%), «Statoil» (commercial operator – 25.5%), SOCAR (10%), «LUKoil» (10%), NICO (10%), «Total» (10%) and TPAO (9%).
