About 200 new taxis to be commissioned in Baku

The Baku Taxi Company will commission 196 new London Taxi TX4s. They have been recently delivered to Azerbaijan. They are under customs clearance, the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry said.

Some 100 new London Taxi TX4 purple cars have been delivered to Baku and by late this year their number will increase to 1,000.

A new private company was established called Baku Taxi Company to develop a program launched by the Transport Ministry.

A supply agreement was signed with Shanghai LTI Company, a joint venture between the Manganese Bronze Holdings and the Chinese Geely Automobile Holdings Limited. It is the largest contract for the company. The total cost is about $27 million.

The Transport Ministry said earlier that it plans to deliver 3,000 new taxis.
