Baku Metro begins laying tunnel for four new metro stations

The Baku Metro has started laying a tunnel within a project to build the new Avtovagzal metro station, a source in Baku Metro said.

The source said that work on laying the tunnel has already started and now a special tunnel installation for tunnel construction is gradually reaching the desired depth.

The tunnel construction will be carried out using new equipment by the German company Herrenknecht. The new tunnel construction method will be used in Azerbaijan for the first time.

The new installation covers 25 meters daily. As the source said, after laying the tunnel for the Avtovagzal station, the installation will be sent to lay a tunnel between the Memar Ajami-2 station and a station located near the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry’s hospital on Hanifa Alasgarova Street.
