State Committee: Profitability of government securities grows in Azerbaijan

In the first half of 2011, the market of corporate securities in Azerbaijan has increased 1.5 times, compared to the same period of the last year, and amounted to 331.5 million manat, said the State Securities Committee (SSC) of the country.

According to the report, during the reporting period, the amount of transactions with shares on the secondary market increased by 21 percent, and the total turnover of primary and secondary markets of shares amounted to 80.6 million manat. Operations on the corporate bond market increased by 2.2 times, amounting to 250.8 million manat.

During the reporting period, the amount of transactions in the primary and secondary market of mortgage bonds increased by 95 percent to 212.7 million manat. Primary and secondary bond markets denominated in foreign currency amounted to 20.9 million manat.

During the year the amount of transactions in the primary and secondary markets of government securities rose by four percent to $194.1 million manat, primary and secondary markets of the Central Bank notes increased by 4.4 times, amounting to 492 million manat.

The profitability of notes of the Central Bank since the beginning of the year has increased from 2.2 percent to 2.5 percent, government bonds of the Finance Ministry with maturity of one month from 1.36 percent to 1.46 percent, three-month government bonds - from 1.61 percent to 2.3 percent, six-month - from 2.01 percent to 2.99 percent.
